All about volcanoes and earthquakes

Volcanoes

Scientists who study volcanoes are called volcanologists.
Volcanologists wear space-age outfits which will keep the volcanologists save the suits have a metal coating that reflects the intense heat of the lava.
At volcanoes around the world, the scientists measure the temperature of lava, take gas samples, and monitor in landforms. By understanding volcanic behaviour, they hope to predict future eruptions. Then scientists can warm up people when current eruptions become hazardous to people living nearby. Their jobs are dangerous, but the work they do is important. Because you never know when we'll see the next big eruption. Pahoehoe is a Hawaiian name which means a volcanoes vent, the lava is cooled and hardened. Lava flows slowly, but it can cover long distances. This black sand is lava that shattered into tiny glass particles when it met the cool ocean. Volcanoes are breathtaking to behold, but the world has seen many deadly eruptions. The three types of volcanoes are Active,Dormant and Extinct.

Earthquakes

Earthquakes are very hard to feel but the earth's plates are slowly moving underneath our feet.

The plates move up to 7 centimetres,or 3 inches, each year.
That's about as fingernails grow. These small movements in plates over millions of years meant big changes for the earth.

Earthquakes can destroy our planet earth.

Earthquakes can kill over a million people and animals.

Earthquakes can break houses, farms, shops, roads, anything.

Earthquakes are dangerous .
